ROLE SUMMARY:

We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Senior Manager, Revenue Accounting to join our accounting team. This role will lead a team of two revenue accountants and report to the VP, Corporate Controller. This is a remote position, with occasional travel (optional 1 time per quarter for 2 days) to our Billerica office to take part in department meetings and team building activities. This role will work closely with senior management across the finance organization, lead the technical accounting analysis for our contracts, oversee revenue and accounts receivable operations including the month end close, and serve as an advisor to our leaders on various revenue accounting topics.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Manage the month-end close process for revenue and cost of revenue. Oversee the delivery of accurate and timely financial information to meet the needs of both internal and external stakeholders
  • Review customer contracts, change orders, SOWs, and purchase agreements to ensure appropriate revenue recognition treatment under ASC 606. Document and review technical accounting analysis for complex / non-standard revenue transactions and lead the review with management and external auditors
  • In collaboration with sales and legal, provide guidance on sales contract deal structure that achieves desired business outcomes and optimizes revenue recognition
  • Continuously develop the revenue accounting team, with an emphasis on enhancing accuracy and efficiency
  • Own the end-to-end SOX program for all revenue processes and controls
  • Support revenue related disclosures and the preparation/review of revenue footnote schedules associated with SEC filings
  • Oversee accounts receivable activities and ensure timely and accurate invoicing to customers and collections. Partner with the sales and customer service teams accordingly
  • Prepare the quarterly CECL reserve and meet with sales teams to support reserve requirements
  • Develop, maintain, and operationalize revenue accounting policies and processes
  • Identify and drive process improvement initiatives including automation and data analytics in creating efficiencies for revenue processes and reducing close timelines
  • Oversee the team's preparation of all external audit requests throughout the quarterly reviews and annual audit
  • Manage ad hoc projects, as needed.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • Global experience in both public accounting and publicly traded companies
  • CPA
  • 8+ years of experience in Revenue accounting
  • ASC 606
  • 3+ years of people management experience
  • SEC financial reporting rules and regulations

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in both Big 4 public accounting and publicly traded, global companies
  • Preference for candidates with a life sciences background, including revenue recognition involving third-party reimbursement
  • CPA license
  • Experience collaborating with sales and legal teams, including cross-functional initiatives that include direct and indirect reports
  • Demonstrated ability to scale a global quote to cash process, navigating the complexities of doing business domestically and internationally, and helping teams through change management
  • Understanding of SEC reporting and ASC 606 disclosure requirements for 10-Q's and 10-K's
  • Focus on innovation. Implementation of modern revenue / billing financial systems, ERP enhancements, and automation (robotic process automation, etc.)
  • Unwavering integrity and quality in approaching your responsibilities

  • Advanced spreadsheet skills
  • Proven ability to analyze, interpret, and effectively communicate financial results, variances, and trends
  • Strong organizational, analytical, interpersonal skills
