This position covers a diverse array of environmental projects, and your time will be split among client sites in Washington, DC, and Arlington, VA, and ERG offices in northern Virginia. Opportunities may include the following types of work:
Participate as part of a team to conduct multimedia (e.g., air, water, waste) environmental compliance inspections of federal facilities.
Implement stormwater management programs, such as writing/reviewing MS4 applications/permits and inspecting sites.
Update permits for and monitor compliance of industrial wastewater discharges (NPDES and pre-treatment).
Support air emissions permit development and compliance, including Title V permits.
Ensure compliance with underground and aboveground petroleum storage tank regulations.
Write plans such as Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP); Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans; and Virginia Oil Discharge Contingency Plans (ODCP).
Support ozone-depleting substance management and reduction programs.
Review building designs and write/review specifications to ensure construction and renovation projects comply with environmental requirements.
Qualifications:
5 to 8 years of experience with environmental compliance. Prefer experience with federal, MD, VA, and DC environmental laws and regulations, such as Clean Water Act (CWA), Clean Air Act (CAA), Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA), Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
Bachelor's degree. Minimum 3.0 GPA. Prefer engineering or science degrees in a related discipline.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to present project findings to client and internal stakeholders.
Strong time management skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects and small teams and meet tight deadlines.
Excellent attention to detail and critical thinking, and the ability to develop quality client-ready deliverables.
Team player and motivator with the ability to foster cooperation.
Ability to obtain a Department of Defense security clearance.
