Position Overview

The Better World Campaign (BWC) works to foster a strong, effective relationship between the United States and the United Nations to promote core American interests and build a more secure, prosperous, and healthy world. BWC engages policymakers, the media, and the American public alike to increase awareness of the critical role played by the UN in world affairs and the importance of constructive U.S.-UN relations. The Communications Intern, Better World Campaign will report to the Communications Manager and work with other communications team members.

Essential Functions

  • Sort, build and maintain press lists.
  • Assist in drafting written content for the BWC website, blog and social media channels.
  • Conceptualize and create social media graphics.
  • Provide content curation, writing, or design support for special communications projects as they emerge.
  • Assist in maintaining email subscriber database.
  • Participate in meetings, take notes, and draft memos.
  • Other activities as assigned by the team.

Selection Criteria

  • Candidate must be enrolled in a degree-granting program during the internship or must be a recent graduate (within 8 months of graduation) of a college or university.
  • Must be available to work a maximum of 22 hours per week.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle stress.
  • Ability to meet regular attendance/tardiness policy.
  • Must have a personal laptop computer and access to the Internet.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Fast learner with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Preference given to candidates with graphics and video editing experience.
  • Interest in the United Nations, International Affairs, Communications and/or the non-profit sector highly preferred.
