Overview

By Light is hiring a Field Service Technician to join our team supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs. This position will provide full-service battery maintenance and support for the Department of Veterans Affairs' RTLS/RFID sensors and asset tags. This includes the monitoring of battery levels through the Centrak Pulse software, changing batteries when battery power levels reach the low battery threshold and ensuring all active asset tags and RTLS/RFID infrastructure are in working condition, online and reporting in the Centrak System once the battery replacement is complete.

This position will require frequent travel (up to 75%) with-in New England covering up to eleven (11) facilities spanning from New Haven, CT to Augusta, ME. It is preferred that the geographical location of the candidate be in the greater Boston area to minimize travel time to many of the facilities. When not on a customer site, candidate will work out of their Home Office.

Responsibilities
    Provide end-user support on RTLS/RFID systems.
  • Ability to understand RTLS designs, interpret floor plans and device mapping with regards to RTLS locations within the hospital.
  • Interpret system generated reports, locating a variety of network hardware and RFID tags, and perform battery replacements as required
  • Support multiple sites simultaneously, reporting status of those sites, and ensuring site actions are complete as required.
  • Establish and maintain rapport with customers, identifying solutions and suggesting methods/techniques to improve the battery replacement process
  • Keep customers, subcontractors, vendors and senior management team informed of current progress, schedule concerns, etc.
  • Elevate issues to the management team as required
  • Document service and battery replacement activities daily by completing forms and reports
  • Schedule and coordinate work times and access into restricted areas or locations with VA staff
  • Verify receipt of all equipment/ material received and resolve any deficiencies in product, serial number differences, and/or discrepancies in needed materials.
Required Experience/Qualifications
  • Associates Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems, Business or related scientific /technical discipline
  • 4 Years IT experience
  • 2 Years of additional experience may be substituted for the education requirement
  • Ability to pass a background check and obtain / maintain a Department of Veterans Affairs Security Clearance is required
  • Candidates must be able to work normal business hours Monday-Friday with flexibility to occasional work outside of "normal business hours" when required
  • 100% proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Must have valid driver's license and good driving history
  • Must be comfortable working in a hospital (including patient rooms)
  • Excellent verbal/ written communications skills with customer interface experience. Able to effectively communicate and present project status' and issues with assurance and confidence
  • Self-starter, ability to manage tasks, schedules and work independently with little supervision
  • Must have exceptional interpersonal, client service and liaison skills.
  • OSHA 10 (can be completed post hire)
Preferred Experience/Qualifications
  • Preferred experience in Wi-Fi, RTLS and RF technologies
  • Experience in healthcare information technology is desirable
Special Requirements/Security Clearance
  • Up to 75-80% travel may be required within the New England area
  • Ability to pass a background check and obtain / maintain a Department of Veterans Affairs Security Clearance is required
  • Must have valid driver's license and good driving history
  • TB Test with negative result required
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to work on your feet for extended periods
  • Must be able to physically walk hospital throughout the day and climb ladders
  • Ability to climb and work from ladders, stoop and kneel on a regular basis
