Job Description
Position Summary:
Support the Body Fluid Donor Program (BFDP) at the Edgewater site through blood draws, and interaction with donors from 7:00-11:00 a.m. Monday-Friday. Phlebotomist will conduct duties according to Siemens Healthineers BFDP protocol and will be trained by on-site Occupational Health Nurse. All blood draw supplies will be provided by Siemens Healthineers.

Primary Responsibilities:

Preparing patients before drawing blood
Explaining blood draw procedures to patients and answering any questions about the process
Following all health and safety protocols and procedures to maintain sanitary work areas
Gathering medical testing materials, including needles, sample vials, blood storage bags and test tubes
Verifying patient information and labeling blood samples properly
Accurately updating patient information in the organization s database
Helping nervous or frightened patients remain calm during blood draws
Working with supervising Occupational Health nurse and following their directions at all times
Adhering to the site biosafety guidelines, standards for medical record/information confidentiality and the rules and standards governing the art of phlebotomy.
Following Body Fluid Donor Program processes and policies and checking the required reports and completing paperwork
Scheduling random donors via Microsoft booking page
Entering data into the Electronic Health Record
Completing bi-weekly payroll
Collaborating with Labs for supplies and blood order needs as needed.

Desired Skill and Experience:

Professional certification or diploma in phlebotomy from a recognized program
Ability to successfully draw blood from patients with minimal or no complications
Empathy and interpersonal skills for working with patients
Detail-oriented and committed to ensuring patient confidentiality
Excellent motor skills and the ability to stand for long periods of time
Advanced written and verbal communication skills
Data entry and computer skills
Strong attention to detail
