Job Description:

Microchip is seeking an EHS Tech-4 to support manufacturing operations in Beverly Massachusetts. This position is responsible for the Environmental, Health, and Safety compliance practice; manages, develops, and implements programs and projects to manage and reduce EHS compliance risk. He or she will partner with Facilities, Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, and other various organizations to provide technical support and coordination of overall EHS compliance, implementation of EHS policies and procedures, and training consistent with the company's policies and guiding principles. In addition, he or she will maintain effective relationships with plant management and employees, community representatives, and regulators. A candidate with experience in semiconductor, electronics manufacturing, or other chemically intensive manufacturing industries is preferred.

Essential Functions:

  • Evaluate and assist the site's environmental, health, and safety regulatory compliance activities.
  • Interfacing with regulatory agencies, such as US EPA, MA DEP, DHS and OSHA as needed.
  • Develop and implement programs and procedures to ensure compliance with new and existing environmental, health and safety regulatory requirements.
  • Strong chemical knowledge and experience with hazardous waste management.
  • Leading an emergency response team; training, management, and emergency response and preparedness activities.
  • Evaluating compliance with air permits, industrial waste discharge and storm water pollution prevention programs
  • Inspect equipment and review process specifications for compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulatory agencies, i.e., RCRA, TURP and Hazard Communication Standards
  • Work with the project teams on hazard identification, evaluation and control, and appropriate risk assessments and mitigation.
  • Conduct EHS audit of applicable EHS programs and recommend improvements to ensure compliance.
  • Develop and implement programs designed to increase employee awareness and knowledge of environmental health and safety compliance policies.
  • Support manufacturing and Site Services operations as a team member. Be an employee advocate for a safe/accident-free working environment.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Must be able to organize, plan and manage numerous multidisciplinary projects while meeting regulatory deadlines, department objectives, and customer commitments promptly.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, across functional departments, as well as with external customers, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • 2-year Associate degree. Preference for chemical or engineering / science background including environmental science, chemical engineering or chemistry.
  • Hands-on experience in an EHS-related field.
  • Have proficiency with computer software, including Microsoft Office,
  • Able to lift, push, pull, carry 25 lbs; sit 30%; stand 30%; walk 40%.
  • Able to work at elevated heights.

Work experience in a Hi-tech manufacturing company is preferred.
