The Opportunity: Patient Care Associate - Medical Unit - Ellison 12

Why This Role Is Important?

Ellison 12 is a 36-bed unit devoted to the care of the acutely ill medical patient. The patient population on this unit includes a diverse mix of medical diagnoses requiring complex nursing care. The nursing staff is highly regarded by physicians and other interdisciplinary colleagues for their clinical expertise in caring for patients at every point on the adult healthcare continuum by providing holistic, complex, and compassionate care. Under the direction of a registered nurse (RN), the Patient Care Associate (PCA) assists the multi-disciplinary health care team in clinical support functions to promote a safe, compassionate patient care environment. Ellson 12 is seeking a PCA, with Day, and Night availability, and to provide rotating weekend and holiday coverage.

What are we looking for?

  • PCA assists patients with daily living needs, monitoring & reading vital signs, drawing blood, and obtaining EKGs.
  • Responds to patient requests in a timely manner, safeguarding patient confidentiality, monitoring patient safety, and always communicating in a respectful manner.

Qualifications
  • Required: Must have recent experience, and/or training, in clinical patient care.
  • Preferred: Licensed, certified, or enrolled student in a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Mental Health Technician, or EMT accredited program, at the time of hire, OR
  • Candidate enrolled in a Nursing, Pre-Med, PA undergraduate program, with at least one semester of patient care rotations completed, at time of hire.
