The Department of Medicine seeksa Medical Director, Transfusion Medicineto jointheTransfusion Medicine ServiceatUMass Memorial Medical Center.OurTransfusion Medicine Serviceprovides a wide range of consultative services to many areas of the Medical Center including our Level 1 Trauma Center and our transplant program.
TheMedical Director, Transfusion Medicinewill be responsible forall activities of the UMass Transfusion Service which consists of a full-service blood bank,inpatientconsulting service,outpatient clinic,andapheresis& cellular therapyprogram (includingtherapeutic apheresisandhematopoieticcell collection).
Academic rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Teaching opportunities will include informal and didactic teaching, and direct supervision of medical students, clinical pathology and anesthesiology residents and hematology/oncology fellows who rotate through the Service.
Candidates are encouraged to participate in basic, translational,and/or clinical research projects, as collaborator or principal investigator, and to pursue projects that lead to presentations at national meetings and publications in journals in relevant fields (including transfusion medicine, apheresis medicine,and hematology/oncology).
The successful candidate will have a background in pathologyand/or hematology, with further training in transfusion medicine.
