GENERAL DESCRIPTION:The Psychiatric Social Worker is an essential member of the treatment team providing optimal psychiatric care. S/he provides a comprehensive and timely psychosocial assessment for adolescent (18+ years), adult and geriatric psychiatric patients. In addition, s/he provides individual and family therapy; co-leads groups; provides consultation to treatment team and program development meetings; and provides in-service training and staff supervision; oversees unit social service functions (including disposition).

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:Two years post graduate psychiatric social work experience.MSW/MA LCSW required, LICSW preferred

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:Graduate of an accredited school of social work MSW Program; current social work license (LICSW) by Massachusetts Board of Registration for Social Workers preferred,but MSW/MA LCSW are eligible.Familiarity with organization and function of psychiatric unit; proficient with diagnostic assessment, individual group and family therapy treatment modalities.
