The Department of Neurosurgery at Boston University and Boston Medical Center (BMC) is seeking a board-eligible or board-certified neurosurgeon with fellowship training in complex spinal neurosurgery to join the faculty and serve as the Director of Spine Neurosurgery at BMC.
The faculty person in this role will function as the lead complex spine surgeon in a practice that includes trauma, emergent, and elective casework at two large urban hospitals including a Level I trauma center. The Director of Spine Neurosurgery is also responsible for the development of the neurosurgery spinal surgery program at BMC which requires a commitment to lead others within and outside the department. Neurosurgeons at BMC work with seven other clinically active faculty with specialty interests covering the breadth of modern neurosurgery.
Competitive candidates must have an interest in the education, training and mentorship of neurosurgical residents, fellows, and support staff including six non-physician providers. Commitment to scholarship and research is essential and readily explored and developed in the fertile Boston academic environment.
