GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
A Research Assistant in molecular imaging is available immediately for the development and application of molecular imaging probes for Alzheimer's disease. This position is at the Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging, part of the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology and Massachusetts General Hospital.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Perform experiments related to Medicinal/Organic/Biological Chemistry
* Develop molecular imaging probes, including near infrared fluorescence imaging probes and PET imaging probes
* Application of imaging probes for investigating neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease.
* Lab management, establishment of experimental protocols, data analysis, writing progress reports, and writing manuscripts.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
* Strong background in Medicinal/Organic/Biological Chemistry
* Knowledge of fluorescence molecular imaging
* Knowledge of PET Imaging
* Ability to perform imaging acquisition independently.
* Ability to analyze and interpret imaging data
* Ability to anticipate problems and develop contingency plans to deal with them
* Able to work independently as well as part of a team.
* Able to write manuscripts for the assigned project.
EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelor's Degree
Preferred: Master's Degree
EXPERIENCE: Indicate the required and preferred (optional) amount and type of experience.
Required: 1 year of related experience in Medicinal/Organic/Biological Chemistry
Preferred: Experience in molecular imaging
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work will be performed at the Athinoula A. Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging in Charlestown, MA.
