The Private Clients Paralegal is responsible for providing onsite support and assistance to attorneys in the management, coordination, and administration of all aspects of the practice area within established administrative procedures.

Location: Boston, MA

  • Draft general correspondence to clients, beneficiaries, financial institutions, courts, etc.
  • Search for unclaimed/abandoned property and perform a bank search for the decedent.
  • Track the estate account transactions and arrange for payment of debts, administration expenses and beneficiary distributions.
  • Prepare court forms to close a probate with the court. This may include an inventory, accounting, beneficiary receipts/assents, and an attorney affirmation.
  • Assist with closing decedent's individual accounts and consolidation into an estate account.
  • Complete projects within given deadlines.
  • Provide status updates throughout the project.
  • Coordinate projects with direct supervision from attorneys and senior paralegals.
  • Stay current with basic concepts and continue education efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • 0-3 years of private clients and/or paralegal experience. Paralegal Certificate preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree required. Work experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to interact with internal and external personnel of all levels.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to meet varying deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic knowledge of the practice area.
  • Ability to learn practice support systems and group specific software.
  • Exhibit substantial willingness to learn from senior paralegals.
  • Basic knowledge of applications typically used within a law firm (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite).

In accordance with applicable Federal and State laws, the anticipated annual salary range for this position, depending on location, is as follows: Boston, MA: $57,598 to $79,104

In addition to a standard benefits package, this role may be eligible for additional contingent compensation based on an array of factors, including but not limited to: work performance, geographic location, work experience, education, and qualifications. Because such contingent compensation is not yet calculable or may be zero ($0) in some circumstances, the above-listed salary range(s) are Nixon Peabody's good faith estimate of the annual salary(ies) it reasonably expects to pay for the position at the time of this posting.
