Nixon Peabody is recruiting for a Real Estate Paralegal. This position is within our Community Development Finance practice group for real estate and project finance transactions. We are seeking a self-starter and proactive "team-player" who is able to work in a fast-paced, and demanding work environment. A hybrid work schedule is available for this position.

Location: Boston, MA

  • Perform due diligence including review of title commitments, surveys and underlying title documents and entity documents, coordinate and implement transactions and closings.
  • Organize and maintain due diligence using document management systems.
  • Assistance with transaction closings, preparation of closing certificates, collection and organization of closing documents, and creation of closing binders
  • Conduct basic legal research.
  • Understand transaction documents, their purpose and contractual provisions in contracts.
  • Familiarity with the tax credit industry, federal and state tax law issues and how they impact transactions at a basic level, and debtor/creditor issues.
  • Complete projects within given deadlines.
  • Provide status updates throughout the project.
  • Coordinate projects with direct supervision from attorneys and senior paralegals on most matters.
  • Stay current with basic concepts and continue education efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Minimum 3 years of commercial real estate and title & survey experience
  • Bachelor's Degree required. Work experience in lieu of a degree will be considered. Paralegal Certificate preferred.
  • Must be able to work collaboratively with paralegals, lawyers, administrative assistants and clients on transactions, department projects and initiatives.
  • Experience reviewing title commitments, surveys and related title exception documents and familiarity with ALTA title and survey standards.
  • Knowledge of partnerships, limited liability companies, tax credit or partnership syndications, a plus
  • Self-directed individual with the demonstrated ability to prioritize, juggle multiple assignments, function as part of a cohesive team and meet deadlines in a timely manner.
  • Excellent, organizational, communication, analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communications.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to meet varying deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exhibit substantial willingness to learn from senior paralegals.
  • Intermediate knowledge of practice support systems, group specific software and other legal support websites.
  • Intermediate knowledge of applications and electronic databases typically used within a law firm (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite, NetDocuments, County Clerk Websites, Land Max and GIS Websites).

In accordance with applicable Federal and State laws, the anticipated annual salary range for this position, depending on location, is as follows: Boston, MA: $76,262 to $123,879

In addition to a standard benefits package, this role may be eligible for additional contingent compensation based on an array of factors, including but not limited to: work performance, geographic location, work experience, education, and qualifications. Because such contingent compensation is not yet calculable or may be zero ($0) in some circumstances, the above-listed salary range(s) are Nixon Peabody's good faith estimate of the annual salary(ies) it reasonably expects to pay for the position at the time of this posting.
