Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Peer Specialist II will perform various coaching, mentoring and supervisory duties to support the Boston Resource Center (BRC) and Metro Boston Recovery Learning Community (MBRLC) programs and staff. Peer Specialists II will work to develop, plan, facilitate and promote activities, programs and resources which support peers in achieving their goals. Peer Specialists II will coach, mentor and supervise interns, volunteers and Peer Specialists I. Peer Specialists II will maintain and ensure a warm and welcoming environment at the BRC/MBRLC and communicate, represent and promote the peer perspective within the BRC/MBRLC. Peer Specialists II will develop and lead peer-run groups and activities.

Schedule: Part Time, Per Diem, Rot Day/Eve

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

  • Associate's degree, Certified Peer Specialist or equivalent experience in a mental health care environment or related work experience required. Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in healthcare field preferred

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Certified Peer Specialist preferred

EXPERIENCE:

  • Current or previous experience as recipient of mental health services required

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Basic computer familiarity inclusive of ability to enter and access data/information. Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook and web browser, preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to instill confidence and to advocate for patients and their family
  • Cultural sensitivity and comfort with a wide range of social, racial and ethnic populations
