The Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC) seeks to hire an Azure Administrator. Under the direction of the Information and Network Security Manager, the Azure Administrator is responsible for designing, deploying, and supporting cloud-based solutions that adhere to security best practices within the MGC Azure cloud environment. Support Linux and Windows server-based multi-tier applications with cloud-based and on-premises components. The incumbent must possess strong troubleshooting skills, be self-motivated, process-driven, highly customer-focused, and have a strong desire to improve personally and professionally.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Deploy and maintain Azure resources and other cloud technologies.
  • Implementation and support for Networking, Databases, Software, and Servers in the Cloud.
  • Design architecture for integrating core infrastructure technologies in support of enterprise applications.
  • Perform risk assessments of existing and new technology deployments.
  • Recommend, implement, and monitor security auditing and alerting solutions.
  • Monitor cloud and on-premise resources to verify integrity and availability.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues, escalate as appropriate and offer solutions.
  • Collaborate with application development, network/security, and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless integration within the production environment, including validation planning, validation testing coordination, and reporting production readiness for deployment.
  • Establish standards, tools, and processes to be used by the team and create procedures to guarantee adherence and compliance to those standards.
  • Develop, document, and understand internal IT processes and procedures.
  • Utilize automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or similar.
  • Ensure timely resolution of issues, responsible for communicating with all impacted parties the status and resolution of all issues.
  • Communicate with customers and notify them of impending changes or agreed outages.
  • Keep current on new technologies and advancements in current technologies.
  • Assists with special projects or other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science or a relevant field with at least three years of relevant experience, or High School diploma/GED with at least five years of full-time or equivalent part-time, professional, relevant experience and training required, of which at least three years must have been work directly related to the duties/responsibilities as outlined.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of active, hands-on experience in Azure cloud services (IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience actively implementing cloud solutions and using Azure services.Achieve and maintain professional IT certifications, such as Microsoft MCSA or MCSE, HPE ASE or Master ASE, VMware VCP, Fortinet NSE.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong working knowledge of security best practices for Microsoft Azure and other cloud technologies.
  • Experience deploying Azure resources and other cloud technologies, including Office 365, PAAS, IAAS, SAAS, Power BI, etc.
  • Experience with Azure Active Directory, Conditional Access Policies, and third-party single sign-on technologies.
  • Experience with Azure Landing Pages, Blueprints, RBAC, and PowerShell scripting.
  • Strong understanding of security concepts surrounding operating systems and applications.
  • Experience with Microsoft technologies such as Active Directory, Group Policies, Certificate Services, IIS, etc.
  • Ability to create detailed Visio diagrams.
  • Knowledge of IT industry standards, change management processes, and use of enterprise standards change control procedures.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external groups in a team environment to improve overall customer service and support.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize existing projects, and proactively determine areas requiring additional attention, monitoring, or maintenance.
  • Proven background in providing excellent customer service.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; think and act quickly to solve issues.
  • Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must have the ability to provide the explanation of technology for nontechnical managers, directors, and above. Great people skills are a must.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging technologies and practices.
  • Ability to understand the laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines governing all MGC activities.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. & push 65 lbs.

Preferred Skills & Abilities:

The following preferred experience(s), competencies, and abilities are highly desirable for this position and will be considered in selecting the successful candidate:

  • Experience working with "Team-Based Practices," e.g., Agile, Kanban Etc.
  • Ability to work on multiple concurrent projects.
  • Ability to follow standard change management processes. Document and evaluate the impact of required changes to the various systems. Plan, schedule, and communicate changes to be implemented.
  • Ability to understand and follow sometimes complex oral and written instructions.
  • Experience utilizing tools and research abilities to resolve technical issues.

Salary is commensurate with experience.

The successful candidate will be required to pass an extensive background check that includes a full credit check, CORI, drug screen, review of income tax transcripts, and fingerprinting.

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission is responsible for the implementation of the expanded gaming law (Chapter 194 of the Acts of 2011). Under the law, the Commission is tasked with establishing a regulatory framework for the solicitation, licensing, taxation, and oversight of a maximum of three casino licenses and one slots parlor license in Massachusetts.
