POSITION PURPOSE: Under general supervision from the Metering Supervisor or other assigned supervisor, the Utilities Controls Technician will perform a variety of tasks including, but not limited to, repairs, tests and programs electronic and mechanical meters for uses.

PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Respond to service orders concerning commercial customers, including meter change outs, re-commissioning, and devices' troubleshooting.
  2. Use PC to commission/program commercial electronic meters (both kWh and demand) and complete all relevant paperwork associated with the assignment.
  3. Coordinate electrician presence onsite and execute project micro-management upon its completion. Follow-up on any new opportunities.
  4. Communicate with customers and co-workers, respond to inquiries in a timely fashion.
  5. Perform other metering duties as required including occasional meter reading, tenant surveys, etc.
  6. Partake in department workflow, stay aware of ongoing projects and assist when necessary.
  7. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education / Experience / Background

  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in electronics, computer technician, or instrumentation strongly preferred.
  • At least two years of related field work experience or any equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of programming, testing, repairing and calibration of electronic and mechanical meters.
  • Strong PC skills as well as demonstrated skills in reading sub-meter drawings, diagrams, and wiring layouts.
  • Proven proficiency in Visio and AutoCAD.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with customers and vendors, communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Reliable team player.
  • An organized self-starter, able to follow standard procedures, prioritize assignments, and address problems as they arise or seek appropriate help.
  • The employee will need to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. It is important the employee has good color vision.

Required Certification / Licenses / Training

  • Valid state issued drivers' license.
