Overview

The Director of Engineering and Technical Support job exists to coordinate and oversee all Chemical Engineering, Chemistry Technical Support, Controls and Automation, and Column Packing activities in the Taunton manufacturing facility. One of the main activities is supporting the start-up of the newly qualified Taunton Precision Chemistry Plant. The Taunton plant produces all of Waters chromatography media utilizing chemical processing equipment. The new plant has a high level of automation including a Manufacturing Execution System (MES). This position also directs the Taunton technical team with supporting production activities and oversees new product development and transfer to production, coordination of equipment & process changes and planning and execution of process validations. This position acts as member of the Taunton site leadership team, accountable for achieving overall plant goals and contributing to overall site strategy development and execution

Responsibilities

Responsible for the Engineering and Chemistry Technical Support activities in the new Taunton Precision Chemistry Plant.
Direct the Controls and Automation activity including completing the full
deployment and maintenance of the MES.

Direct the Column Packing group to support production and meet operational goals.

Provide leadership and direction for all technical activities the Taunton facility.

Prepare overall capex expenditure proposals for the site's major technical investments. Plan projects and lead safe execution to meet success criteria (timing , cost, etc.)

Troubleshoot technical production/equipment issues and provide solutions.

Provide engineering support for EHS initiatives (PHA's, MOC's, incidents,etc.)

Actively engage in Lean operation system deployment, and lead continuous improvement initiatives across the technical functions to improve safety , product performance , productivity, quality, manufacturing agility & costs

Collaborate with Chemistry R&D to determine equipment and process specifications for new products. Transfer new technologies and processes to the Taunton facility.

Qualifications

Education:

Minimum BS in Chemical Engineering. MBA Preferred

Experience:

Minimum of 10 years' experience in engineering management in a chemical process environment

Complexity:

Deep knowledge of chemical engineering principles, automation systems (MES, PCS), and chemical process equipment

Requirements:

No specific mental requirements other than the required education and experience. Physical requirements: Light (Lift up to 10 lbs Frequently; Up to 20 lbs occasionally and/or Frequent Walk/Stand and/or Constant Push/Pull). Most of the job requirements will be conducted in a cubicle/work station environment.
