Job Summary

Facilitate the development of new products, cost savings, and quality improvements for branded, licensed, and private label dairy and non-dairy products. Develop fundamental knowledge of products, formula, and ingredients. Draft development of technical timeline, Ingredient Specifications, Formulas, and Semi Finished Goods Specifications. Apply knowledge associated with statistical analysis, Design of Experiment and Statistical Process Control.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Execute projects focused on new products, processes, ingredients and continuous improvement. Manage several projects simultaneously.
  • Develop new products to meet consumer needs; research product acceptance with consumer.
  • Work cross-functionally to drive the Customer to Concept process to bring new products to market.
  • Maintain existing products through new suppliers, alternate ingredients, and process improvement.
  • Adhere to R&D Standard Operating Procedures and checklists.
  • Travel required as needed for business; communicate with supervisor when not manageable.

Education & Experience

  • 0-3 years of food Industry experience; entry level BS/MS/PhD
  • Masters/Bachelor of Science/Engineering degree in relevant scientific field of study
  • Certifications highly beneficial

Skills & Competencies

  • Technical knowledge of food science, sensory science, and/or data analysis.
  • Basic understanding of a technical segment of products, sensory attributes, and the relationship with Customer and Consumer needs.
  • Fundamental knowledge of products, formula, and ingredients.
  • Ability to use knowledge covering statistical analysis, Design of Experiment and Statistical Process Control.
  • Draft Ingredient Specifications, Formulas, Semi Finished Good Specifications.
  • Demonstrative ability to develop technical timeline.
  • Skills to handle risk and uncertainty as well as problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong self-accountability to meet deadlines and drive results; is accountable for own work; meets timelines and expectations.
  • Curious and shows ability and desire to learn. Is personally committed to and actively works towards continual self-improvement. Leads-by-example while working on projects
  • Works well with other team members; collaborates well with team members and members outside the department.
