Description

The College of the Holy Cross seeks a seasoned, articulate, savvy advancement professional with superior management, technical, organizational and verbal and written communications skills for the position of Director of Prospect Development and Advancement Services. Reporting to the Vice President for Advancement and joining a talented team preparing for the College's largest comprehensive campaign, the Director of Prospect Development and Advancement Services contributes strategies and leadership to help reach campaign and fundraising goals by managing an information, data processing, and intelligence infrastructure which supports a robust culture of prospect development and data-driven decision making, for the coming campaign and the advancement division. Responsibilities include supervision and strategic leadership for the Advancement Services and Prospect Development teams, supervision of the CRM Instructional Design and Training Specialist, as well as overall guidance for advancement reporting, data management, analytics, predictive modeling and portfolio management. In collaboration with other members of the division, the director will secure the ongoing success of advancement in its mission to maximize philanthropy for Holy Cross and will shape operations strategies that appropriately incorporate donor perspective.

Major Area of Responsibility

  • Supervise the development and implementation of portfolio and prospect management systems and protocol which aligns to individual divisional goals and campaign goals;
  • Leads a Prospect Development team (including an Associate Director, Assistant Director, and Analyst), an Advancement Services Team (including an Assistant Director, Data Specialist, and two Advancement Coordinators), as well as managing the CRM Instructional Design and Conversation Specialist, to help ensure successful fundraising efforts for the College.
  • Develop data models and provide recommendations to leadership based on data analysis and interpretation;
  • Develop and deploy new business intelligence/analytics tools, including visualizations and predictive models, to assist in fundraising efforts;
  • In partnership with the CRM specialist and partners in Information Technology Services, manage the use of data, web, and technology projects with key partners and stakeholders. Create processes and structures that allow for greater technology access and training as well as more transparency and accountability for fundraising staff;
  • Provide oversight of gifts and records, data integrity, gift processing, etc.
  • In partnership with the Vice President and senior program managers, develop goals and processes for monitoring progress and performance; assist in facilitating annual planning processes and retreats; communicate important initiatives and organizational directives and information;
  • Build partnership with the Associate Vice President for Individual Giving to ensure the most effective management of the Holy Cross prospect pool and reporting on gift officer progress. Foster an atmosphere of open communication that builds trust across the organization;
  • Serve as a member of the senior advancement team and participate in staff meetings and working groups as needed.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree is required.

Experience: The successful candidate will have prospect development and research experience, some advancement operations and CRM technical systems experience, as well as knowledge and appreciation of philanthropy and fundraising in a higher education environment. A minimum of 5+ years of work experience in non-profit management (or equivalent) is required, with strong preference for campaign experience in higher education. This is a full time, exempt level position. The College is committed to providing competitive market pay for its employees.
