We are currently recruiting for a Drafter to join our PULLMAN team in our office in New York, NY. As a Drafter you will work in a self-directed work group and communicate with engineers in order to complete designs.
As a Drafter, key responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Working with Project Engineers and Project Manager to establish project requirements.
- Working closely with design engineers to develop general arrangement drawings of structural steel and concrete structures
- Preparing detailed drawing packages necessary to perform all phases of shop fabrication and field construction
- Preparing support documentation for review such as bills of material, shipping lists and material summaries.
- Certifying drafting project outputs to ensure they meet requirements/specifications and formats for technical and engineering documentation.
- Examining electronic schematics and supporting documents to develop, compute, and verify specifications for drafting data, such as configuration of parts, dimensions, and tolerances.
- Locating files relating to specified design project in database library, load program into computer, and record completed job data.
- Retaining files of drafts and approved technical drawings.
- Keying and programming specified commands and engineering specifications into computer system to change functions and test final layout.
- Generating and verify shop reports for fabrication
- Performs quantity takeoffs and estimates for projects ranging in size from $25,000 to $5,000,000.
- Supports estimating teams on larger projects, e.g., submittals and shop drawings
- Performs as Assistant Project Manager on small projects of $50,000 or less.
Candidates who meet the following criteria may be considered for this position:
- Associates Degree with focus in engineering design or related field
- 5+ years of experience in computer-aided drafting/design
- Proficient in AutoCAD Mechanical 2030 and Revit CAD
- Experience creating 3D models from samples and/or from 2D drawings
- Demonstrated ability to produce 3D models with Sketchup and Inventor
- Previous experience creating, editing, and formatting drawings for concrete, steel and/or post-tensioning construction projects
- Previous experience maintaining a digital database (i.e. Autodesk vault, hard-copies, and engineering documents)
- Experience with Autodesk Inventor a plus but not required
- Working knowledge of On Screen Takeoff platform
- 3+ years of experience with excel with Proficiency with MS Excel using pivot tables
- Basic understanding of geometry to calculate area and volume of common architectural shapes and features for the determination of material coverages.
We anticipate this role having a base salary between $75-85k based on education and experience.
