Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a talented Mainframe z/OS Systems Programmer with mainframe websphere experience to join our team of qualified and talented individuals. This position would be supporting our customer located in Eagan, MN. This is an on-site position with hybrid/remote possibilities.

Day to Day Roles and Responsibilities:

    Work with z/OS Operating System and Unix System Services.
  • Install and Configure WebSphere Application Server, IBM WebSphere, and HTTP servers on z/OS environment.
  • Collaborate with Security and system teams to implement Security on WebSphere and enable mainframe self-service for users.
  • Tune WebSphere Application Server for Java Batch workloads.
  • Apply WebSphere Application Server fix packs.
  • Perform WebSphere MQ changes on z/OS and manage MQ OC panels.
  • Configure IBM ODM Rule Execution Server on WebSphere Application Server for z/OS.
  • Open Service Requests/PMRs and collaborate with IBM on issue resolution.
  • Troubleshoot WebSphere application server issues.
  • Define WLM Service and Transaction classes for WebSphere z/OS.
  • Integrate MQ and WAS, familiar with Bindings and Client mode.
  • Implement Global Security, SSL, SAF Keyrings, and Hardware Cryptography.
  • Design infrastructure architecture from Development through to Production.
  • Install resource adapters and enable WOLA.
  • Deploy Java EAR files.
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree and 8 years of experience or a Masters and 6 years of experience or a High School Diploma and 12 years of experience.
  • Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder. No sponsorships.
  • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Strong background in z/OS systems programming with experience in Unix System Services.
  • Proficiency in object-oriented applications and working with various technologies such as relational or object-oriented databases, WebSphere, Apache, IIS, network management, and internet technologies including HTTP, HTML5, CGI, and SSL.
  • Experience in administration and environment management of WebSphere, Apache, and Portal Server environments.
  • Extensive experience with WebSphere application server on z/OS, IBM MQ, and WebSphere web server.
  • Demonstrated experience in security, RACF operations, and collaboration with application development teams.
  • Ability to set up WebSphere optimized local adapters (WOLA) connection on WebSphere z/OS.
  • Proficient in UNIX shell script development with proven ability to build and execute plans for batch cycle processing.
  • Familiarity with HTML, JavaScript, HTML5, and other front-end languages.
  • Experience in scripting for automated deployment and software installation.
  • Strong understanding of networking principles including firewalls and routers.
  • Familiarity with various server and log monitoring tools such as IBM QRADAR, Splunk, etc.
  • Knowledge of Java and JavaScript Programming.
  • Strong understanding of Java Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE) and WebSphere.
  • Familiarity with Markup Language (XML) and Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with MQ z/OS and familiarity with MQ Explorer, MQ z/OS Panels.
  • All candidates must be US Citizens or have permanent residence status (Green Card).
  • All candidates must have resided in the United States for the past five (5) years.
  • Candidates cannot have more than 6 months of travel outside the United States within the last five (5) years. Military Service is excluded. (Exception does not include military family members.)

Target Salary Range
$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
