Position Summary

Odyssey Systems has an exciting opportunity for a Modeling & Simulation Engineer providing support to AFLCMC/HNC a one-of-a-kind Air Force activity which provides life cycle management for information assurance and other critical systems. The division's primary mission is cyberspace support. AFLCMC/HNC is responsible for technology development, acquisition, sustainment, and demilitarization of cyber security systems or products that provide mission assurance by ensuring warfighter access to the information systems and its products, while denying adversaries access to the same. The division also provides product support to other critical Air Force, Department of Defense (DoD), and national force protection and intelligence systems required by the nation to mobilize, deploy, support, and sustain operations. AFLCMC/HNC is organized into 10 branches spread across multiple facilities.

This position will support the Distributed Cyber Warfare Operations (DCWO) Program.

Responsibilities

Duties include, but not limited to:

    Provide knowledge and experience in supporting and conducting simulation studies to include but not limited to system and component performance, engineering trade-offs, system effectiveness, cost, and logistics
  • Knowledge and experience reviewing/modeling work for compliance with regulations and best practices; developing and maintaining modeling best practices; analyzing complex problems; developing relevant models and constraints to run complex dynamic structural, thermal or other analyses; and reviewing and supporting work to develop appropriate models to solve complex weapon system issues, to include networking and communications
  • Develop and apply advanced software and systems methods, theories, and research techniques in the investigation and solution of complex and advanced technical problems
  • Analyze, evaluate, and plan methods of approach and organize means to achieve solutions of complex technical problems
  • Conduct investigations and tests of considerable complexity. Evaluate vendor capabilities to provide required products or services
  • Provide technical consultation to technical staff or other organizations
  • Work with a team of analysts onsite at Hanscom AFB and with Government clients to verify the correct intelligence data required for key modeling and simulation analyses, including models that range from engineering to mission level
  • Work with internal and external organizations to gather required capabilities and performance (C&P) data for classified threat systems to ensure proper characterization of the threat models
  • Apply these analysis tools, object models, and analytical techniques to support mission-level analyses, to include the performance of military communication networks, susceptibility to Integrated Air Defense Systems (IADS), concept alternatives characterization, development planning, and the analysis of new systems, technologies, effectiveness, and lethality
  • Ability to assess RF performance with software
  • Ability to adapt current and outside sourced models, as needed
  • Experience with analysis, including modeling and simulation tools, such as System Tool Kit (STK), AFSIM software tool, Riverbed Modeler, or similar tools
  • Experience in data management; ability to compose documentation; analysis reports, and briefings
  • Experience coding in MATLAB, Simulink, or C++
  • Possession of excellent statistical analysis or operations research skills
  • Employ Digital Engineering, Digital Thread, Digital Twin techniques across system Lifecycle
Qualifications

Minimum Required Qualifications:

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen

Clearance: Must have and be able to maintain an active Top Secret clearance

Education: MA/MS and 12 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, of which 5 years must be in the DoD, OR

    • BA/BS degree and 15 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, of which 5 year must be in the DoD, OR
    • 20 years of directly related experience with proper certifications as described in Job Descriptions, of which 8 year must be in the DoD.
  • Experience with software engineering with a modeling and simulation, radar, or communications background
  • Experience with RF and Antenna modeling and simulation
  • Experience with technical writing
  • Experience with working in a research environment
  • Experience with command and control processes
  • Experience with LVC environment
  • Experience on DoD or Air Force acquisition programs desired
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic team environment meeting end users' requirement
  • Must be detail-oriented and have excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities

Preferred Qualifications:

Clearance: Top Secret

Education: MA/MS and 12 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, of which 5 years must be in the DoD, OR
