Role Summary

This role will be responsible for the financial support for the combined US and Canada Pharmaceuticals business ($0.8B revenue). The US Pharmaceuticals P&L is the highest profitable division at Baxter and represents the largest growth engine over the next three years driven by significant new product launches of which the Finance lead will be a critical execution partner. The incumbent will report directly to the Vice President, Finance - Pharmaceuticals segment and serve as the CFO to the Vice President of the UCAN Pharmaceuticals business, with responsibility for directing all financial support including decision support, new product modeling, pricing analytics and strategy, FP&A processes as well as business partnership for execution of financial commitments from business growth and profitability to Cash Flow.

What will you be doing

  • Direct the analysis and reporting of financial documents, explaining trends, variance to budget, forecast, and prior year for management reporting, with external market and financial analytics to support day-to-day commercial execution

  • Provide proactive leadership for all operating forecast updates throughout the year as well as the annual operating plan and strategic plan
  • Active financial management and leadership for significant pipeline of New Product and Business Development launch support over the next 2 - 3 years
  • Partner with Marketing Analytics to develop Product Models capable of actively forecasting and leading the complex price / volume relationship across products within the Pharmaceutical Portfolio to maintain or expand profitability
  • Implement initiatives to reduce revenue leakage across all US Baxter segments ($6B in revenue) including such high-risk areas as wholesaler chargebacks, product returns, partner rebates, and product royalties
  • Finance lead for critical GPO, customer, tender, and vendor deal management analytics, modeling, and negotiations with partners
  • Lead cross functional team to improve Canadian compounding profitability as part of a Global initiative
  • Liaison with Accounting CoE on new marketing models which may require unique accounting treatments
  • Critical contact point for Baxter Investor Relations and assist in developing the external messaging for the US market.
  • Represent Finance on special task forces, cross-divisional teams, working groups, including BD integration activities
  • Understand relevant business risks, perform appropriate risk assessment, and recommend mitigation plans
  • Drive compliance with internal controls, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), SEC requirements, and Baxter Financial Policies and Procedures for all related entities and operations
  • Management of a strong, cross-region team of individuals with key focus on development and succession planning

What will you be doing :

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field (or country equivalent).
  • MBA/CPA preferred.
  • Demonstration of key finance competencies and qualifications 12+ years of experience with proven ability to build and lead teams.
  • Proven experience in the Pharmaceuticals industry, preferably in a leadership role
  • Strong eye for business and judgment as well as understanding of relevant business environment
  • Ability to effectively influence and drive consensus with diverse team members; proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities
  • Strong negotiation, interpersonal communication, collaboration, and presentation skills
  • Knowledge of GAAP accounting principles, tax and legal accounting (Knowledge of acquisition accounting a plus)
  • Skilled at assembling and managing both ongoing staff, Finance shared service center resources, as well as cross-functional teams as required
  • Decisive leadership, with ability to generate ideas, develop alternatives, rapidly decide upon the best course of action and drive implementation of that decision

At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all our employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $176,000 - $264,000 USD annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and/or long-term incentive.
