Biotechnology Intelligence Consultant

Key Role:

Serve as a strategic technical consultant to the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), helping to oversee the creation and execution of advanced government-funded research and development programs. Work in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment as a scientific or technical advisor in biological sciences to support the client. Draw on deep technical knowledge and subject matter expertise to advise clients in multiple areas, including Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, and Synthetic Biology. Leverage a breadth of expertise to assess technologies across a broad range of applications to work with world-class scientists to drive research efforts forward for the development of advanced biological technologies to support the client's operations and to improve the readiness of our warfighters. Provide strategic assessments of new technologies to support the organization's goals, create technical reports, present findings, track technological progress, analyze technology program plans, and perform other related tasks required by the client. Produce and present findings and recommendations to a team of colleagues and clients on the feasibility and potential impact of future research programs, assisting with the management of current programs, and facilitating the transition of program deliverables to DoD stakeholders. This position is located in Arlington, VA.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience with research in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or Synthetic Biology

  • Experience with authoring technical papers, reports, or program plans for both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Ability to display multiple first-author contributions to peer-reviewed papers or patents

  • Ability to explain and present complex scientific concepts to a broad audience

  • Ability to obtain a security clearance

  • Master's degree in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or Synthetic Biology

Additional Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience working in the U.S. Intelligence Community (USIC) as a research analyst, intelligence analyst, or similar analytical position

  • 2+ years of experience with postdoctoral academic or industrial research

  • Experience using scientific databases and data mining techniques

  • Experience with scientific writing

  • Knowledge of biotechnology concepts, methodologies, and applications

  • Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

  • TS/SCI clearance

  • Doctorate degree in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Synthetic Biology, or related field

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $96,600.00 to $220,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees. This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
